Two conditions resulted within the trials; two thirds of the trials had congruent stimuli, with the word and font color being the same, the resulting trials were mismatched by having contrasting word and font color. Trials began by pressing the spacebar; once the stimulus appeared, the participants were asked to respond as quickly as possible. Responses were made by pressing the appropriate key to identify the font color and feedback was given on the participants accuracy. The chosen keys were given or set by the participants prior to the start of the trials. If assigned keys were kept, the h key was pressed if the font color was red, the j key for green font, and the k key for blue font. If the participant was unhappy by a particular start to a trial the t key was pressed to discard and be repeated at a later time. The time it took to respond to the stimuli accurately was record as data in milliseconds. Results: Individual data is seen in the table below, showing a 47.9335ms difference between the two conditions. The 47ms shows the small effect in a longer reaction time when the name and font were different within the trials.
