This course explores human development from infancy to early childhood. Major emphasis will be placed on early perceptual, cognitive and social development. How does the world of space and objects appear to the infant? How does the childÕs logical thinking develop? How does the child experience others and learn to use language to communicate with them?

Note: The class notes will be posted on this site at the end of each week. These notes are here to help you to prepare for the exams - in no way should they be seen as a substitute for your actual class notes.
REQUIREMENTS:

1. midterm: 40 points (20%)
2. midterm: 40 points (20%)
final exam: 80 points (40%)
Exams will be multiple-choice tests combined with short-answer type questions. Exams can only be missed with a doctorÕs note. If you have a family emergency, please contact me BEFORE the exam. Make-up exams will be essay questions combined with an oral exam.
2. Homeworks: Three homework assignments. (20% total)

Homeworks are due at the beginning of class. Late assignments will be accepted, but will be penalized: -2 points/day.
3. In-class participation. Activity during class (questions, comments) can significantly influence your final score. I do not take attendance, but the material that you will be tested on includes everything that will be discussed in class. Group exercises will be conducted several times during the semester where extra points can be earned.
TOTAL POINTS FROM EXAMS AND HOMEWORKS: 40+40+80+13+14+13 = 200 points
